He is Colorectal and Enhanced Recovery Lead at Russells Hall Hospital and has helped shape robotic surgical services at a regional level, ensuring that more patients across the West Midlands can access the most advanced surgical care available.

Six months at CHU Bordeaux, France with Professor Eric Rullier one of Europe's highest volume colorectal cancer centres. Training in robotic TME, beyond-TME surgery, organ preservation, intersphincteric resection and TEMS. Exposure to organ preservation strategies, trans-anal techniques and beyond-TME surgery, skills which form a core part of his current consultant practice.
RCS Robotic Fellow at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth with Professor Jim Khan, a leading UK centre for robotic surgery. Investigator on the Mastery trial assessing surgical quality benchmarks using Intuitive Data Recorder technology. These fellowships developed advanced skills in robotic-assisted surgery that Mr Kumar now applies in his consultant practice.
Mr Kumar is nationally accredited (JAG) for colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, performing over 400 procedures per year. He is skilled in therapeutic endoscopy including the removal of polyps, reducing the risk of bowel cancer. Patients can be confident they are receiving endoscopy to the highest national standard.
